Kiora Bridge Inspection

Image

Description
Kiora Bridge is the primary road link between Moruya and Kiora on the NSW South Coast. Abyss conducted a visual inspection of the bridge to establish its condition. The project was undertaken by Abyss as a trial to showcase it inspection capabilities and ability to contribute to improved bridge condition assessment and maintenance.

Outcomes
The inspection was undertaken without the need to interrupt the traffic on the bridge, using Abyss’ robotic technology. Abyss successfully combined above and below water survey platforms to deliver fully integrated and geo-tagged results.

Abyss captured high fidelity imagery of the bridge clearly showing features on its surface down to the millimeter scale. Abyss also delivered a detailed fault map of the bridge, containing the nature and dimensions of major faults identified. Imagery was stitched together to produce 2D and 3D visualisations of the bridge. The visualisations provided an interactive birds-eye view of the asset and were annotated with the findings of the inspection.

Benefits

1.The ability to comprehensively inspect the asset without disrupting its operation,

2.Establishing a visual baseline of the asset for condition assessment and to enable its condition to be tracked over time,

3.3D visualizations of the bridge to enable desktop condition assessment and improved maintenance planning.
